Overview of the Department
To give the detailed knowledge of human biochemistry to 1st year MBBS Students, which will help them to correlate the importance of the knowledge of clinical biochemistry in the modern medicine. This will also ensure that an IMG will be able to diagnose different diseases on the basis of analysis and interpretation of various clinical laboratory investigations.
To provide Diagnostic services at Central Biochemistry Laboratory to various patients of general hospital, Palanpur which can enhance the health matrix of people of Banaskantha district.
Structural framework of the Department
Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory at General Hospital, Palanpur:
Department of Biochemistry is involved in the following job responsibilities for providing services to Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory at General Hospital, Palanpur
- Over all supervision of clinical biochemistry laboratory at central lab, General Hospital, Palanpur
- Procurement of indent chemicals & reagents etc.
- Analysis & approval of biochemistry lab investigations and timely dispatch of reports to wards
- Care & regular maintenance of analytical instruments
- Performance of QC (quality control) to assure accurate & precise reporting of lab investigations
- Daily performance & supervision of IQC data
- Performing CMC, Vellore EQAS as a part of quality management system and sending results to check compatibility
- To provide Diagnostic services at Central Biochemistry Laboratory to various patients of general hospital, Palanpur which can enhance the health matrix of people of Banaskantha district.
Undergraduate Practical Laboratory:
Conduction and supervision of practical classes as per CBME syllabus during academic year for FY MBBS students
Preparation of the practical reagents as per the protocol of individual practical in UG practical lab
Departmental library
- Around 84 different Biochemistry books which include text books, practical books, MCQ books and reference books are available at department library which can upgrade the knowledge of students as well as teaching faculties.
Demonstration rooms
Two demonstration rooms are available which have 80 students’ capacities in each. Each demonstration room has all modern AV Aids facilities.
We are using these demonstration rooms for conducting demonstration of various Biochemistry practicals. Also, we are conducting various small group teaching learning methods like seminars, tutorials, puzzles solving activities etc as per CBME.
