Vision:
Department of Pharmacology, BMCRI & GH envisages to be the Department of excellence in the subject of Pharmacology by imparting among students, the patient focused, community oriented requisite knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and competencies pertaining to the therapeutic basis of essential, life saving drugs, their rational use, efficacy, safety, suitability for clinical conditions with due attention for Pharmacovigilance and facilitate their incremental growth in pursuit of their MBBS degree.
Mission:
The Department of Pharmacology at BMCRI is committed to deliver best education by providing up to date knowledge, stimulating intellectual discourse, developing analytical and critical thinking skills, emphasize on self reliance & self education by implementing newer teaching methodologies and the virtual lab training. Focused training to enhance their learning abilities to realize the importance of rational use of medicines, antibiotics after knowing the clinical entity and administer caution for their use in specialized populations like pediatric, geriatric and pregnant mothers. Identify, analyze, and treat the adverse drug reactions, notify them to PvPI through the established AMC of BMCRI. Develop newer treatment strategies to treat various disease conditions. Encourage the skill development through community outreach programs in the form of campaigns, street plays, role plays, to educate the general public on – health problems, safe use of medicines, advantages and disadvantages of using Over The Counter (OTC) preparations or self medication, identifying and reporting of the adverse drug reactions. Department strives to advance the knowledge in Pharmacology by conducting innovative , basic, collaborative and translational research , to understand the mechanism of disease, drug action, identify new targets for drug action, with an ultimate aim to apply this knowledge in patient care & benefit the community. Foster student-centric, richly experienced research oriented faculty, promote community outreach programs, faculty development programs and make continual progress. Overall, enhance their ability to develop ethics, skill and attitude to serve the community confidently and efficiently as a “Physician of first contact”.
