INFRASTRUCTURE OF DEPARTMENT
Surgical OPD, HOD office & Teaching room for Undergraduate students are located on ground floor of `B` block , General Hospital, Palanpur. They are next to each other so that clinical teaching on OPD patients can be done easily without loss of time. Surgical OT is situated in ‘D` block of General Hospital,Palanpur which is modular type and well equipped with laparoscopic instruments. Planning & construction of 3 more modular OTs and separate endoscopy room is under process. One minor OT is near Emergency /Trauma ward and one minor OT is in OPD area. Surgical ICU is situated near Emergency ward on ground floor of ‘D’block. We have 42 types of Books & 10 types of Journals of Surgery in central Library.
Concept of Teaching
A well structured surgical programme for Undergraduate students has been implemented based on integrated teaching according to new curriculum given by NMC. The programme has specific definitions & goals of skills to be acquired during the training with emphasis on follow up & knowledge reinforcement.
Undergraduate students are taught application of theoretical knowledge in patient care with implementation of moral & ethical Standards . Educational and learning skills are taught with continuous evaluation of the learning process.

To provide affordable & latest surgical treatment to poorest of the patients in an environment of compassion to the patient satisfaction. To provide minimally invasive surgical options to the poor patients so that they can return to their job as early as possible with less pain . To promote laparoscopic surgery from the present status to advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures. . To establish State-of-the-art endoscopy unit with dedicated staff for endoscopic diagnostic as well as therapeutic procedures.
To provide integrated knowledge & surgical skills to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students based on knowledge of anatomy, physiology & pathology learnt in 1st & 2nd MBBS. To promote self learning in Undergraduate students based on daily exposure during clinical postings and to inculcate ethical & moral standands. To Start Post graduate Program and superspeciality department as early as Possible .

She completed MBBS and MS from Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad & Sheth KEM School of Post-graduate Science & Medical Research, Ahmedabad respectively, which are affiliated to Sheth Vadilal Sarabhai General Hospital (VSGH), Ahmedabad. She then went to Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute(SRMC&RI), Porur, Chennai, to complete Mch in Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery. She worked as a Cardiac surgeon in VS General Hospital, Ahmedabad; Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi; Wockhardt Hospital, Rajkot; and Kasturba Medical College,Udupi,Karnataka. She has 14 years of teaching experience. She has been teaching senior residents pursuing superspeciality degree in cardiovascular & thoracic surgery. Postgraduate students of General surgery and Undergraduate students pursuing Medical and allied Science. She has presented various papers at National, Asian & International level. She has published papers in national & international Journals.
She has worked as Nodal Officer during Covid-19 at General Hospital, Palanpur affiliated to BMCRI & GNPCT, Planapur. She has organized two CMEs during her career. She was the organising Secretary of CME held on “Update in cardiac Surgery-A glorius past and bright future” August 30th2015, KMC, Manipal, Udupi, India. She was organising Secretary of CME on “Role of vipassana in health and Happiness” held on January 17th2020, BMCRI, Palanpur, Gujarat, India.
